Abstract

This study was done to identify the present situation and construct a model for hospital disaster preparedness.
Twenty-four general hospitals in Seoul were surveyed and asked to send a copy of what they have related to hospital disaster.
Data were analyzed through statistics for questionnairs and content analysis for mannuals. Most of mannuals were not for the substantial matters such as evacuation, transferring patients, report, but for form¢¥s sake or for hospital engineers.
On the basis of its results, a model of hospital disaster preparedness was constructed, Seven of most outbreakable hospital disaster types were identified by code system; Code Red for fire, Code Grey for power disruption, Code Brown for contamination, Code Green for evacuation, Code Orange for mass casualties, Code White for violence, Code Yellow for missing. Among them, as a sample the Code Red for fire was manifested into a manual for its standardization.
